RHINO Working Groups
On the evening of the first day of the workshop, participants were asked to assign themselves to a Working Group. The working group sessions were held in the afternoon/evening of March 15 and the morning of March 16. Each Working Group was asked to
- focus on a different assigned topic related to the issues arising in the presentations of the previous days, and
- produce the content for one component of the RHINO Workshop Statement on Future Investment in the Collection and Use of Routine Health Information in Developing Countries and Countries in Transition.
Each working group had a facilitator to coordinate the discussion and the production of a presentation and written
report. Each group also had a rapporteur who recorded the main points of the discussion and prepared the presentation.
The rapporteur also participated in the presentation.
Group presentations were asked to cover the following:
- Key lessons learned in this area of investment in HIS development
- Recommendations for future investment in this area with respect to the lessons noted above.
Recommendations could fall under one of two categories:
- a statement of general principles or guidelines for sound intervention/investment, or
- specific activities or mechanisms, such as: international or national networks or structures; policy making processes; technical or financial interventions; research studies; types of partnerships or working relationships.
